Whether you are developing an application for a mobile robot or a robotic manipulator, the robot needs to ‘see’ its surroundings. There are multiple sensor types to use depending on the environment or object the robot has to handle.

Course content

In this one day course you will learn the basics of Robot Perception. We will cover the advantages and disadvantages of multiple commonly used sensortypes (lidar, ultrasonic, IR, (depth) camera). Since the (depth) camera is one of the most used sensors, the vision used in this course will be explained a bit more. Deep learning can also be used to detect objects in sensor data. Lastly, ROS (Robot Operating System) will be discussed. This is one of the ways to program a robot based on the sensor input.

We will cover the topics listed below:

  • Introduction to sensors
  • Computer vision
  • Deep learning
  • Robot Operating System

This course is offered as one of two basics courses robotics and is suited for anyone who is curious to get started with industrial robots. The course is organised by RoboHouse and its partners which offer their courses on their own field of knowledge.
